WELCOME

Thousands of journeys are taken on Edinburgh's public transport network every day. Buses, trams and suburban railway networks form the key infrastructure that shapes one of Scotland's fastest growing cities. In times gone by, a network of railway lines traversed the city, but few remain today.

What will the new tram extension bring, and will the South Suburban line ever be reopened to passengers? What happened to all the old suburban train lines? And why is now the time to care about rail?
